Crowdsourcing with CoCoMac:

We studied four times the number of brain regions and have compiled nearly three times the number of connections when compared to the largest previous endeavor,” he pointed out. “Our data may open up entirely new ways of analyzing, understanding, and, eventually, imitating the network architecture of the brain, which according to Marian C. Diamond and Arnold B. Scheibel is “the most complex mass of protoplasm on earth—perhaps even in our galaxy.

More than 235,000 female US soldiers have deployed to combat zones, with 129 killed.

Women combat veterans were surprisingly eager to deploy. Many said they found it easier to fight a war than deal with the pressures of home life.

Virginia Army National Guard Sgt Paigh Bumgarner said it took surviving a brutal firefight to earn the respect of some male comrades. "There was one cop in her unit who said women don't belong out here," Browder said. "He shut up after that."

The paintings disappeared early Thursday from the Paris Museum of Modern Art, across the Seine River from the Eiffel Tower. Investigators have cordoned off the museum, in one of the French capital's most tourist-frequented neighborhoods.

The museum's security system was disabled, and a single masked intruder was caught on a video surveillance camera, according to Christophe Girard, deputy culture secretary at Paris City Hall.

Investigators are trying to determine whether the intruder was operating alone, Girard told reporters. He said three guards were on duty overnight but "they saw nothing."

Capt. Tejdeep Singh Rattan

Capt. Tejdeep Singh Rattan is the first Sikh to complete US Army officer basic training in traditional beard and turban since dress code exceptions were instituted in 1984.

Tajeeb

The 31-year-old dentist, graduated Monday at Fort Sam Houston after the Army made an exemption to a uniform policy that has effectively prevented Sikhs from enlisting since 1984.

"I'm feeling very humbled. I'm a soldier," he said, grinning after the ceremony as other members of the Sikh community milled about nearby. "This has been my dream."

Riots follow apparent arson of Ugandan Royal Tombs:

Eyewitnesses said the fire started from behind the huts. The main hut was completely destroyed as the surging crowd wailed in disbelief, hampering further the Police efforts to stop the inferno from spreading.

The Police said they could not tell the extent of the damage to the world famous heritage site since they were unable to access it, but it was clear that the huts were reduced to ash.

Situated on a hill within Kampala, the site is an active religious place in Buganda Kingdom.

As a burial ground for four kings, it is a religious centre for the royal family, a place where the Kabaka and his representatives frequently carry out important rituals.

It is also an outstanding example of traditional Ganda architecture and an exceptional testimony of the living Ganda traditions.

韩寒 300 Million Hits

Han Han: racecar driver, novelist, heartthrob, blogger.

Mr. Han has enjoyed widespread fame since he published his first novel at 19, but his popularity has ballooned in recent months through blog posts that seem to capture the zeitgeist of his peers, the so-called post-80s generation born after the economic reforms introduced by Deng Xiaoping.

Han-han

Since he began blogging in 2006, Mr. Han has been delivering increasingly caustic attacks on China’s leadership and the policies he contends are creating misery for those unlucky enough to lack a powerful government post. With more than 300 million hits to his blog, he may be the most popular living writer in the world.

“Their lives are nothing like ours,” he said. “The only thing they have in common with young people is that like us, they too have girlfriends in their 20s, although theirs are on the side.”

No More God for You

Sobrinho

Catholic Archbishop José Cardoso Sobrinho excommunicated the mother of a 9 year-old rape victim for approving her daughter's abortion.

Doctors discovered that the girl --who had been raped repeatedly since age 6 by her stepfather-- was pregnant with twins, and determined her underdeveloped uterus could not carry even a single fetus without risking her life. Sobrinho also excommunicated the doctors who performed the legal procedure, but not the law-breaking rapist.
